Clinical Practice and Experience
Henry has was appointed as a Consultant at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust in 2010.
Henry has a busy elective practice at Wrightington Hospital where he treats patients with diseases affecting the pelvis, hip and knee. He performs a high volume of revision hip and knee surgery for joint replacements that are failing. Henry is a co-chair of the North West Regional Revision Knee MDT.
Henry is a member of the Pelvic and Acetabular Trauma team at Royal Preston Hospital, the Major Trauma Centre for Lancashire. Henry's trauma practice is focused on injuries and fractures of the Lower Limbs, and in particular he specializes in the treatment of Pelvic and Acetabular Fractures, Fractures around the Hip and Knee, and Periprosthetic Fractures around Hip and Knee Replacements
Medicolegal Practice and Experience
Henry has been doing doing Medicolegal work since 2017.
Henry prepares Medical Reports for Personal Injury and Medical Negligence cases. Henry accepts instructions from both Defendant (80%) and Claimant (20%) law firms.
Henry's medical legal practice is focused on Personal Injury claims affecting the Lower Limbs and the Pelvis and Acetabulum. He accepts instructions for Medical Negligence cases related to Hip and Knee Replacements, and treatment of fractures of the Lower Limb
His medicolegal practice is based in Manchester in consulting rooms on Gartside Street. He also sees claimants at on the John Charnley Clinic at Wrightington Hospital in West Lancashire.
Clinical Management
Henry was Clinical Direct for Lower Limb Services at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust from 2021 to 2024, and he was Clinical Director for Trauma Services at the trust from 2012 to 2024.
Henry is the Clinical Lead at WWL for the ongoing Metal-on-Metal Follow-Up programme at the Trust, as well a for 3D Printing services at the Trust.
Teaching and Training
Henry is the John Charnley Trust (JCT) Education and Course Lead. Through the JCT Henry arranges a range of Courses and Educational Events (www.wrightington.com)
Henry is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University.
Henry is regularly invited to give talks and lectures locally, nationally and internationally on trauma and joint replacement.
Henry is a Mentor for Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeons at the Queen Elizabeth College Hospital, Blantyre, Malawi via NOTAA and the AO Alliance Foundation.
Prizes, Awards and Fellowships
AO Trauma Fellowship - In 2010 I visited the Inselspittal in Berne, Switzerland for 6 weeks.
British Hip Society European Travelling Fellow - 2010 - I visited Professor Kjeld Soballe in Aarhus, Denmark.
Hip Society (US) Rothman Ranawat Travelling fellowship - In 2012 I was selected to represent the British Hip Society on the to North America and visited 13 centres of excellence in Hip surgery.
BHS McKee Prize - 2010 - Best Podium Presentation
Sir Ratanji Dalal Research Scholarship 2006 - Awarded jointly by the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Royal College of Physicians of London to support a prospective study investigating chronic haematogenous osteomyelitis in children in Malawi.
Ethicon Foundation Fund Grant 2006 - Grant to support travel costs to fellowship in Malawi 2006-7

Henry is the Chair of Trustees of the NorthWest Orthopaedics and Trauma Alliance for Africa (NOTAA). This is a UK registered charity based in the NW of England that supports education, mentorship, provision of equipment and research in the field of Orthopaedics and Trauma in Africa, with a current focus on Ethiopia and Malawi.
Henry is a Trustee of the John Charnley Trust. This is a UK registered charity that supports education and research in the field of Joint Replacement surgery.
Henry was previously the Member at Large of the British Hip Society (2021-2023)
